Look Good Again After Pregnancy

By: Dawn Eastman

Now that you are a new mother, you have a lot of things to take care of and one of the most pressing is to get rid of that pregnancy weight you are carrying around on your frame. As a matter of fact, that is quite normal; most new mothers hang onto 10-15 pounds of pregnancy weight after delivery, many times it's even more. What do I do now. Get busy and get moving; nothing will happen if you just mope around and feel sorry for yourself, get busy thinking about how to get weight loss after pregnancy.

Losing weight is one of the hardest things that a person can face; but if you get your desire worked up, get with your doctor and have a good dietary plan under your belt that contains exercises, and then you are ready to get rid of those unwanted pounds. Get busy and get motivated because your plan is not going to do itself, it needs your drive and motivation to bring it to fruition.

There is nothing quick or easy about all this and you will need to put your nose to the grindstone and invest some time; just don't be swayed by the quick weight loss claims of all those weird weight loss plans that don't work....they just want your money. Don't even consider doing rapid weight loss after pregnancy because it is too much of a strain on your body and very dangerous.

Allowing your body to heal now that you are postpartum should be the number one factor here; allowing it to recover from the ups and downs of hormonal pregnancy swings, the trauma of birth, and possibly breastfeeding, so be careful to treat it with respect while it is recovering. Let your body relax and get back on an even keel after all the trauma it's been through; and trying a rapid weight loss regimen right now is the last thing you should be doing to it. 9 mos. is what you should aim for in dropping the weight and do it slowly, It took 9 mos. to put it on, so at least allow the same time to drop it.

Without the weight gain you experienced during pregnancy, you would have no nutritional reserves with which to nourish the newborn child in the form of breastfeeding; Mother Nature has thought of everything. You must be prepared with a good support system to be the underpinnings of the baby's nutritional needs because as far as Nature is concerned, you are the only support the baby has. The baby is developed and has been born, and is now being weaned from breastfeeding; so the weight you have been carrying is not useful any longer, and the body begins to shed it gradually and naturally. Significantly, a lot of mothers who have newborns have found that once the weaning of the baby has taken place, the postpartum weight on the mother begins to disappear gradually.

Amazingly, the most recent studies on breastfeeding show that new mothers are burning up about 700 calories per day. This could really add up if you combined it with other weight loss plans, but just don't keep thinking that it will ever become a major player in weight loss after pregnancy. To get the most out of your weight loss plan, you need to arrange a good diet plan and the correct amount of exercise to go with it, and then add in all the other factors involved.

There is no mystery here...you need a weight loss plan that can jumpstart you into getting the weight off your body in the most gradual natural way, but with maximum loss results; and one that will keep you nutritionally sound and healthy and able to take care of the baby and breastfeed at the same time. Your health is of utmost importance when you are taking care of a newborn, because if you are not up to snuff and healthy, then both the health and wellbeing of the baby and you suffers and you can't have that. A workable daily routine is a necessity if you expect to get anywhere in this day and age; and it should be a sensible one as well. That wonderful plan could be the cat's meow, but if it's not a good fit, and you don't like it; then where does that get you. Make sure you go over your plan carefully and that everything fits just right; that way you can enjoy your new life and your new little life, your baby.
