Benefit Of Yoga For Pregnant Women

By: Nick Clipton

Very few women feel like running a marathon at any point during their pregnancies, and they probably shouldn't even try, but you should try to remain physically active and do some sort of routine exercise program, so that you can stay in shape, and to make your pregnancy and delivery easier.

Again, you should follow the advice of your practitioner, not every woman is able or allowed to exercise during pregnancy, for various reasons. Your practitioner will be able to tell you what types of exercises you can do, for what length of time, and how often you should do them. Be prepared for this to change during the pregnancy, as your tummy expands, and there is a higher likelihood of you going into labor.

Even if you exercised routinely before your pregnancy and are in good physical condition, you should still check with your practitioner before doing any kind of strenuous exercise, just to make certain it is okay for both you and the baby. If you are out of shape, and did not exercise regularly before you got pregnant, your doctor may restrict the type of exercises and frequency, at least until he sees how well you can tolerate it. You will have to let your doctor know how you feel during exercise, so that he can help you determine what is right for you at this time.

Yoga is claimed to be a good exercise for everyone. Yoga is also a good exercise for pregnant women and provides them with many benefits. So whether you are pregnant or know someone who is, read on to learn the many positive benefits of yoga for pregnant women.

Yoga is a wonderful exercise for pregnant women and can be safely performed throughout the entire pregnancy. Some poses may need to be modified during pregnancy and poses where the woman is lying on her back or stomach should be avoided. The pregnant woman should also avoid any position or pose that does not feel right to her.

Yoga provides many benefits to pregnant women. Among those benefits of yoga are increased flexibility, more energy and stress relief. Yoga also helps the woman prepare for childbirth. This is done by the regular use and stretching of the muscles that are used in childbirth.

In addition, the relaxation and breathing skills learned in yoga will help a woman throughout the labor and delivery of her child and may also lessen some of the woman's pains and anxieties.

What can't you do? When pregnant I advise you not to over stretch, as your body prepares for pregnancy the body will promote the levels of the hormone relaxin. This hormone can increase flexibility at a joint and increase the damage to ligaments, tendons and cartilage around the joint. With this in mind dynamic exercise and movements should be avoided as due to the increase in flexibility you are at greater risks of falls that can cause serious injury.
