A System for Continuous Marketing

By: Kaitlyn Miller

I can’t stand to work from one marketing push to the next, always fighting against deadlines, never quite sure if I’m going to make it. This brings out very negative feelings and leaves me drained each time the marketing push is over, well aware I have to be immediately ready to jump to the next marketing venture.

You can’t have a break in your marketing if you want to maintain and grow your business. As soon as your marketing presence starts to falter so will your sales, which is why it can be so nerve wracking when you’re reaching the end of a marketing push and you aren’t sure if you’re going to make it in time. Any major delay will end with a lack of marketing presence, which leads to lack of sales.

There is a better way than this, and the first step is setting up a strong system for your marketing that is at least partially self sustaining.

Certain types of marketing lend themselves very well towards largely maintaining themselves. You can cut out certain aspects of the researching and set up process, or at least greatly reduce the scope of it, if you have a good system in place.

I’m going to focus on direct mailing for this. I’m not saying this is the only kind of system you can use, but it certainly is a good one. The biggest part of direct mailing is setting up your first mailing list to send out. Once you have the mailing list made all you have to do is a few minor tweaks to it here and there to keep it up to date.

The next part is the color postcards you’re going to send out, but even here you can help improve the process. Rather than go one postcard to the next, develop a variety of postcard templates instead. You again have the longer initial amount of time needed to get it going, but once you have some good postcard templates to work with the design process will be greatly reduced in time.

Each time you need to send out a quick marketing message you can just fill in the postcard templates and churn out some effective color postcards to send through your mailing list. You won’t need much time to get it done and you won’t have to worry about fighting against the deadlines.

This works very well with larger marketing pushes, allowing you more time to work on your other marketing while the direct mailing system practically runs itself. Now you can know that even if things get delayed on your other marketing you still have your direct mailing in place to keep your marketing presence solid. The sense of relief and the lack of pressure on you to get things done quickly is more than enough reason to set up your system for quick marketing.
