Cholesterol the unseen killer. But it isnt
that simple. Its never that simple and in this article I will discuss
lowering Cholesterol and Herbs to Lower Cholesterol.
A group chemical with the repution of dredging cholesterol from the bloodstreeam
are phytosterols. They are contained in almost all plants but the noble
Sesame seed registers with the highest quantity as a dry nut. A similar
product with a high level of phytosterols would be Sunflower seeds. Many
other nuts and vegetables are worth looking into. I know Lettuce and Asparagus
do well as do Okra and Tomatoes.
It has been shown that over a period of weeks a couple of Carrots a day
can lower cholesterol levels. They are high in pectin as are Apples and
the white inner layer of Orange and Lemon rinds. Lots of people render
fruit down to juice these days. Fine as a drink but if you want or need
the full value of these fruits dont reduce them to juice and filter them.
Instead if you want to get the full benefit of their pectin content put
them in a blender instead. As a juiced product all of the fiber is removed
and along with it the pectin products that reduce your Cholesterol. Not
only that but the fiber you throw away is also a vital part of your everyday
diet.
Whilst on the topic of fruits Avocado is one of the highest-fat fruits,
so, people with heart disease are often advised keep clear of them. Pity
because avocado can help reduce cholesterol. Rather like an apple a day
keeps the doctor away it seems that an Avacado every now and again can
help towards a 10 percent reduction in you Whilst on the topic of fruits

Fenugreek not know to many as Trigonella foenum-graecum contains according
to my son a fiber called mucilage. This is another herb to have had startling
results in laboratory tests. Of course its also a valuable and tasty food
item in its own right. In cooking it is often mixed with another Cholesterol
lowering herb Ginger and in my household Garlic and Onion. You can buy
Onion oil at a herbalist and a couple of teaspoons a day can be a major
reducer of cholersterol. Up to 25 percent.
Garlic in particluar is a vital herb to lower Cholesterol. Tests have
shown that as little as one clove a day can lower your Cholesterol by
a good ten percent. In the UK it is a recognised treatment as it is in
most of Europe. Of course the noble garlic has many other herbal uses
from blood pressure reduction to antiseptic.

Did I mention high blood pressure because another preventer of heart problems
and rather surprisingly a member of the herb to lower Cholesterol group
are nuts. High in fat they may be, but, one American study in a fairly
high population 25,000 showed that nut eaters were less likely to be fat
and in general were fitter than not. Remember fat is not always bad its
the type of fat and the exercise you take that makes the difference.
